Below we present a detailed description of the elements of the bill for electric service, corresponding to the two types of residential rates that exist.

What information does the Electric Bill provide?

The simplest way to check how our daily life depends on electric power, is shown in the bill of electricity consumption of our home.

The CNFL has two types of residential bills because it has two rates for this sector:

- Invoice for Residential Rate (T-RE)

- Invoice for Residential Time Rate (T-REH)

Items Included

Dear Customer, this bill includes, in addition to the cost of electricity consumed and street lighting, the following items:

- The Variable Cost of Fuels (CVC), is the one corresponding to the value for producing electricity by means of fuels, in accordance with the tariff schedule of the ARESEP (The CNFL is only collector of the CVC and transfers it to the ICE).

- Sales Tax (IV), which is collected and transferred to the Ministry of Finance.

- The Tribute (TRB), which is collected and transferred to the Benemérito Fire Department.

Consumption Periods

Peak hours

Period between 10: 01 am and 12: 30 pmy between 17: 31 pm and 20: 00 pm
They mean five hours a day.

Hours Valle

Period between 6: 01 am and 10: 00 am and between 12: 31 pm and 17: 30 pm
They mean nine hours a day.

Night Hours

Period between 20: 01 pm and 6: 00 amdel next day.
They mean ten hours a day.

Improvements

The Commercialization Department, through the Commercial Processing System (SIPROCOM), developed the new format, which incorporates the following changes:

- Address by province, canton and district for a more accurate and complete customer location.

- Substation and circuit: these data will allow the customer to know and have a greater detail of the location of their service within the distribution network of the CNFL

- Inclusion of "Cost per kWh of street lighting", to facilitate the client's calculations.

- Full sheet format for better distribution and more space in the information fields. 

- Lower belt with all the means of contact, thus providing the customer with ease of communication and the possibility of carrying out procedures and consultations.

- Reverse with valuable information of interest (Virtual Agency Services, App facilities).

Knowing what information this document gives you could help you consider more assertive decisions in managing electricity consumption in your home.

Remember each month to read your bill well to know what are the charges that appear and what is your normal electricity consumption. In addition, the company could place important notifications and other updates on its invoice

CNFL Billing

The customers of the Compañía Nacional de Fuerza y Luz SA, through a new service, will receive via email the receipt with the detail of the amount to be paid for their electricity consumption.

All CNFL users can enjoy this service. The only requirement is to report your electronic address to the 800 Energy address or call the 800 Energy number (800-3637442).

This is a free, reliable and fast service that is complemented with the cancellation of the bill in our collection centers or entering our Internet Portal: www.cnfl.go.cr

Definition or characteristics of this rate

Demand charge

The amount to be invoiced due to demand will be calculated as follows: 

Customers with consumption greater than 3000 KWh per month, the first 8KW of power or less have a fixed charge and each additional KW applies a differential amount.

Features

Demand charge

The maximum demand that will be billed will be the highest average load in KW, for any interval of 15 minutes during the month, which is recorded between the 10: 00 am and the 12: 30 pm or between the 17: 30 pm and the 20 : 00 pm (peak hours), as long as the power registered in the peak hours is at least 80% less than the maximum power of the period. If the aforementioned conditions are not met, the invoiced power will be the highest recorded in the billing period, regardless of the rush hour.

The demands registered on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays will not be taken into account for billing purposes, the latter in accordance with the provisions of article 148 of the Labor Code and its reform, according to the 8442 law, the foregoing applies only on mandatory payment holidays.
